THE BEACHES! Most people believe there are no good beaches in the Keys and this isnt true:  There's Bahia Honda Beach, rated one of the top beaches in the U.S., Picnic Island Beaches and Sand bar right off our island down the canal and accesible by boat or kayak, Big Coppit Beach, and in Key West there excellent  private beachs at the resorts and hotels that you can go and spend they while visiting.  Check out the Beach infront of the Southernmost House B&B and Casa Marina Resort.  Some great public beaches are Smather's Beach, Higg's Beach, Dog Beach by Louis' Backyard and we secpecially recomend Fort Zachary Taylor Beach.  Also you can visit: to see the various isolated islands and beachs in the Keys back country-gulf side which you can easily visit while staying at Villa Marquesa. OR to visit our local amazing beaches.

You can fish right off the dock, or just bring bread to feed them but the best fishing sites are off Little Palm Island or by boat off Bahia Honda bridge. If you want deep-sea fishing you can go to American Shoal Light House or past Looe Key Reef.    You can also rent kayaks to go up and cruise the canals to see birds, iguanas, and the occasional winter manatee.  We recommend is a visit to Fort Zachary Taylor in Key West and Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas: you can get there from the Yankee Clipper ferry from Key West Harbor. Beautiful!

There is a public library next to the Winn-Dixie grocery store, Wallgreens and CVS pharmacies, nail and hair salon,  chinese restaurant, great bagles, Radio Shack, Toursit Visitors Center, and a gym at the Big Pine Key at the Deer Key Shopping Mall.  Also Saturday and Sunday the Big Pine Key Flea Market has great deals and fresh locally grown vegtables at the Farmer's Market.  Out of The Blue on Big Pine has great art, gifts, clothes and great massages.  Also in Big Pine key you have a health food store, organic produce stands, churches of all denominations and even a yoga center.
