There are to many great restaurants to mention but we would recommend particularly local mom and pop types. There are tons of mostly local places: in Ramrod Key there is a great Cuban Restaurant and market called 5 Brothers, there's Boondocks Restaurant and Bar and Looe Key Tiki bar and Live Music. In Little Torch there's Parrotdise and the ultra high-end Little Palm Island Beach-Side Restaurant and in Big Pine key you have No Name Pub. In Cudjoe Key you have Square grouper and in Sugarloaf Key you have Mangrove Mama's. Key West is a foodies paradise. Particularly good are Pepe’s Cuban Restaurant for live music, Blue Heaven, Salute on the Beach, Latitudes on Sunset Key, Louie's Backyard, Michaels, Camille’s, and A & B Lobster House. THE BEACHES! Most people believe there are no good beaches in the Keys and this isn't true: There's Bahia Honda Beach, rated one of the top beaches in the U.S., Picnic Island Beaches and Sand bar right off our island down the canal and accessible by boat or kayak, Big Coppitt Beach, and in Key West there excellent private beaches at the resorts and hotels that you can go and spend they while visiting. Check out the Beach in front of the Southernmost House B&B and Casa Marina Resort. Some great public beaches are Smathers Beach, Higgs Beach, Dog Beach by Louis' Backyard and we especially recommend Fort Zachary Taylor Beach.
Also you can visit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDOvb_dLQzE&feature=related to see the various isolated islands and beachs in the Keys back country-gulf side which you can easily visit while staying at Villa Marquesa. http://bahiahondapark.com/ OR http://www.floridastateparks.org/bahiahonda/ to visit our local amazing beaches.
You can fish right off the dock, or just bring bread to feed them but the best fishing sites are off Little Palm Island or by boat off Bahia Honda bridge. If you want deep-sea fishing you can go to American Shoal Lighthouse or past Looe Key Reef. You can also rent kayaks to go up and cruise the canals to see birds, iguanas, and the occasional winter manatee. We recommend is a visit to Fort Zachary Taylor in Key West and Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas: you can get there from the Yankee Clipper ferry from Key West Harbor. http://www.nps.gov/drto/index.htm Beautiful!
There is a public library next to the Winn-Dixie grocery store, Walgreens and CVS pharmacies, nail and hair salon, chinese restaurant, great bagels, Radio Shack, Tourist Visitors Center, and a gym at the Big Pine Key at the Deer Key Shopping Mall.
